There are dozens of screen cleaners on the market and most of them work. They won't harm expensive electronics and for the most part they do a great job cleaning them. For some time we have been looking for a screen cleaner that removes hard water spots. Honestly we have tried most of them with minimal success but with a little pushing from Brent Ehrler, we recently tried Wave Away, Sonar and GPS Screen Cleaner.
Wave Away is a product started by "left coaster" Chris Lambert. It comes in a 2.7-ounce bottle and has a 12-inch X 12-inch microfiber cloth included. Each bottle contains enough Wave Away to do 500 applications.
We have a graph in the old washtub that we have let go for a couple of trips for testing purposes. It has some rain and road grime but also was covered with hard water spots. In our area, hard water is a problem, and it spots up everything very quickly upon drying. A dirty sonar can cause missed opportunities or false readings. What looks like a fish could be a water spot.
We gave this graph a quick shot of Wave Away, let it sit for 30 seconds and carefully wiped the screen with the microfiber rag. No spots were left, not even the old hard waters spots we tried cleaning with other cleaners, and we also noticed it helped with a glare issue as well. Because it contains no ammonia or alcohol, it is not harmful to the screen, and we liked it because it sticks where it's sprayed. No runs or drips. We also noticed that it leaves a protective coating that allows the next cleaning to work even better. It is important to use the microfiber rag as others could cause scratches or remove the protective coating on the screen.
We have used Wave Away on our tow vehicle GPS screen, our computers and even used it on our sunglasses. We had a fogging issue with our glasses that went away with Wave Away too. Clean sunglasses reduce eye fatigue and allow them to work more effectively, as well.
When Brent speaks, we listen and he gained another feather in his cap with Wave Away!
Wave Away is sold at Tackle Warehouse and is on sale there for $12.99. It normally costs $14.99 per bottle.
